Green Valley Dog Drivers Information

The GVDD people are a group of dog lovers, first and foremost. We train our dogs to pull dog sleds, 3-wheeled carts (when there is no snow),  and weight-pulling sledges, for fun and for competition. We mostly live in the western suburbs of Chicago Illinois,  in places like Naperville, Bolingbrook, Aurora, Batavia, or Woodridge, though some come from as far away as Hoffman Estates.

We have a wide variety of dogs involved with us. Siberian Huskies, Malamutes, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and various mixed breed dogs. Some of our dogs come from AKC breeders, others from shelters, all dogs in good health comfortable with people and other dogs  are welcome.

Some dogs don't like pulling, but most do. Those who seem to enjoy it are patiently taught to pull in harmony with the rest of the team. Our dogs are both our students and our teachers. Most weeks there are plenty of spare harnesses available for anyone who would like to try their dog. Please do not bring dogs who are aggressive to other dogs or to people.

All levels of interest are welcome, from fiercely competitive to laid back. We've been gathering as an informal group since 2004, and our main goal has always been to keep it fun for the dogs and for the people.

We now maintain a yahoo group GreenValleyDogDrivers. If you'd like to get email about our meetings please become a member at http://groups.yahoo.com. There is no cost. We generally meet around 7:30 am on Saturdays, train for a few hours, and then bring our dogs to the Greene Valley dog park (a permit is needed to use the park, but no permit is needed to train with us). If you have any questions freel free to contact us.
